Hi there, it’s Michael Leckie, welcome to Talk to Leck!

For my day job, I work closely with senior leaders who are becoming transformational leaders.  I have a limited list of clients to whom I can give my time and attention.  But I have always had a growing network of people that I connect with and connect with each other.  My friend, Adam Grant, talks about this at the center of being an effective giver in his great book Give and Take.  It’s a wonderful feeling to connect people who can have a mutually beneficial impact on each other and their world.  But, to be honest, it’s not quite enough for me.  I meet people every day who could use the same coaching and support I provide my C-suite clients, but whom I can’t practically work with.  There are too many of them, only one of me, and it just would not work out from a time and cost perspective.

With my clients we can dive deep into how behaviors change beliefs, where true change happens, and the best ways to get people to behave differently and to open their eyes and hearts to the changes they want to make.  The changes in them that start a cascade of changes in the organizations they lead.  We can talk about their strengths and struggles, their loneliness, their frustration, and their aspirations to impact the world in meaningful ways.  But I can only do that with a few at any given time.

That’s where Talk to Leck comes in.  This is my best attempt (at least for now) to provide something for everyone who wants it.  It is where I try to distill what I have learned in working closely with some of the world’s most senior leaders and bring that to any leader or aspiring leader.  It is my way of trying to give more and still lead a balanced life that also focuses on my health, family, and friends.

Granted, our conversation might be a little one-sided, as I am responding and sharing with a lot of you at once.  I’ll try to make it as much of a conversation as I can by listening to what is being asked and responding to it in general, as opposed to a one-to-one dialogue.  I’ll also be looking at what is happening in specific organizations (often those in the current news) and talking about the ways things might have gone better or differently.  Some of those organizations might feel very familiar and some of the lessons might be readily applicable to you and your organization.  I certainly hope so.

Welcome to Talk to Leck, I hope you find it useful!
